Robert P. White, Sr.Central, SCRobert P. White, Sr. (Bob), 78, of Central, died Friday, May 13th at his home. Raised in Netcong, N.J., Bob was a son of the late Robert R. and Katie Paul White. He graduated from Netcong High School in 1955. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State College in 1959 and began his career in education as an industrial arts teacher at Morris Hills Regional High School. He later became the Related Arts Supervisor at Jefferson Township High School and earned a Master’s degree from Montclair. He was also a Track and Field official for 25 years. In 1963, he married Mary Davis, of Scranton, PA, and moved to Stanhope, N.J. where they lived and raised a family. He retired in 1994 after 34 years in education. Bob was a Stanhope borough councilman and acting mayor, a member of the Netcong Fire Department, Stanhope Fire Department, Sussex County Peace Officers Association, and a life member of the NRA.Bob and Mary moved to Central, SC in 2006 where he enjoyed making many new friends, particularly the morning group at Hardee’s. Here, he was a member of the Central Model Railroad association, Sherriff’s association, and Clemson United Methodist Church. Bob was a 50 year member of North Star Masonic Lodge in Wharton N.J. (now Acacia Lodge #20), a 32nd degree mason and a Knight Templar. He served as Square Club President for one year and Secretary for 30 years. In 2012, he was initiated as a Noble of the Hejaz shrine in Greenville, SC.Bob is survived by his wife Mary of 52 years, a daughter, Jennifer Harvey and husband Charles of Pendleton, SC, a son, Robert P. White Jr and fiancé Patty Haug of Downingtown, PA; sister, Elizabeth Meyerson and her husband, Lee of Kona, HI; four grandchildren: Robert Christopher White; and Adam, Simon and Harmony Harvey; a niece, Shari Meyerson of Chicago, IL; and several cousins.Memorial Service and Masonic Rites will be 6:30, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.Interment will be at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Stanhope, NJ at 11 AM, July 11, 2016.
