Robert Lawrence Wiggins Sr., 90, of Clemson, SC, passed away on November 4th, 2025. He was born in Anderson County to the Late James C. Wiggins & Eunice Warnock Wiggins.
Bob was a member of University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC, where he served on church council and was property committee chairman for several years. Bob graduated from Greenville High School in 1953. After High School, Bob served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1955 to 1957.
Bob graduated from Clemson University in 1961 with a BS degree in Industrial Education. He taught Industrial Arts at Jenkins Junior High School in Spartanburg, SC, and Mechanical Drawing at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, SC. After his teaching career, Bob became a computer programmer at Bigelow Sanford Carpet Company in Landrum, SC.
In 1968, Bob went to work for Clemson University, where he computerized the circulation system of the Clemson University Library. He remained at the university until he retired as System Support Manager in 1993.
After his retirement, Bob enjoyed many years of cruising the Intracoastal Waterway and the Bahamas with his wife Emily. He also enjoyed camping with friends across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
In his final years, Bob and his wife spent over four happy years at Clemson Downs.
Bob is survived by his cherished wife, Emily Sutherland Wiggins; sons, Robert Lawrence Wiggins Jr. and wife Susan of Carlisle Massachusetts, and Roger Alan Wiggins and wife Angela of Central, SC; sister, Eleanor Wiggins Stoudemayer; five grandchildren, Evan James Wiggins, Kenneth Reid Wiggins and wife Hannah, Sydney Maryn Wiggins, Matt Brewer, and Daniel Eli Wiggins; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Lawrence Wiggins, and Ava Mae Wiggins; sister-in-law, Peggy Dollar Sutherland; five nieces; and nine great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a brother, James C. Wiggins Jr., wife Peggy; brothers-in-law, Raynold Stoudemayer, and Lawrence Sutherland, Ormond Fraizer; and nephew, James Frazier.
Bob never met a stranger and leaves behind many friends.
A memorial service will be held at University Lutheran Church of Clemson, SC, on Sunday November 23rd, 2025, at 2 PM.
