For ten years, Rodney and Ramona travelled out west to Noxon, Montana, and Glorieta, New Mexico, to build, repair, and renovate churches. Rod was a longtime member of the E. R. Eller Sunday School Class, church deacon, Sunday School teacher, and volunteer football coach for West End Elementary and the Easley Recreation Center. Rod was also a founding member of the Joe’s Morning Coffee Club.

In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Rod is survived by his sons: Rodney “Rocky” Eugene Lewis, Jr. (Lindsay), Gray Morgan Lewis (Cheryl), John Lee Lewis, Sr. (Suzanne), and Rex Clay Lewis (Deanna); his daughter Ramona Paige “Duffy” Lewis; his sister, Jan Lewis Hice; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
