Mr. Rodney Lee Sims, 76, of 21 Woodleigh Drive, Taylors, loving husband of 29 years to the late Norma Jane Sims, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Oconee Hospice of the Foothills-Cottingham House.
Mr. Sims was born in Hamlet, NC on October 29, 1938 to the late Roy and Mildred Tripp Sims. He retired from the Greenville Hospital System after 42 years as an EEG Tech and enjoyed arts, movies, and reading. Rodney was also an avid collector of movie soundtracks. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea.
Mr. Sims is survived by a son; Randall Sims (Chelsea), of Venice, California; a daughter; Ashley Gilbert (Bryan), of Six Mile; a sister, Nancy Dutton of Fayetville, NC; and one granddaughter; Shelby Nicholson. Rodney is also survived by two nieces; Denise Stanley and Nicole Williams; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick and Diane Sims.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
The family will receive friends on Sunday at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM.
The family is at the home of his daughter, 313 Edens Ridge Drive, Six Mile, SC 29682.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society,154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
