Romayne Hamilton

Alva Romayne Hamilton, 82, formerly of 200 Augusta Street, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton.
Born in Easley, Mr. Hamilton was a son of the late Warren S. and Bernice Jones Hamilton. He graduated from Presbyterian College where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University. Mr. Hamilton taught and coached at Bluffton High School in Beaufort County, at Ford High School in Laurens County and various schools in Pickens County including serving as Principal of Ambler Elementary School. While in Beaufort County, he was also a game warden.
Mr. Hamilton was a member and former deacon of Easley Presbyterian Church, and an associate member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. In addition, he was a former Easley City Councilman. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Young Hamilton; one son, Henry Young Hamilton of Jasper, Georgia; two daughters, Bernice Hamilton Deener, of Easley and Nancy Hamilton Green and her husband, Donald, of Warner Robins, Georgia; four grandchildren, Dennis Deener, Jr. and his wife, Katherine, Katie Deener Howerton and her husband, John, Jennifer Green, and James Green and his wife, Lisa; and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Asher, Logan and Grayson Howerton, Kenny and Hunter Green, and Emma Deener. Mr. Hamilton was predeceased by a son, Alva Romayne Hamilton, Jr. and a brother, John Wallace Hamilton.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Easley Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Saturday and will be placed in the church at 1:30 P.M. Sunday.
