Rev. Ronald Anthony "Ron" Gilbert, 59, of 308 Joshua Street, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Floyd Asbury and Emma Jean Hinton Gilbert, Rev. Gilbert was an Evangelist with the Pentecostal Holiness Denomination. He was formerly a drill instructor with the US Army.

Surviving are his wife, Joy Piper Gilbert of the home; a son, Robbie Moon (Leslie) of Piedmont; three daughters, Sherry Gilbert Steele (Scott) of Easley, Shannon Watkins of Greenville, and Joy Lynn Callerame (Charles) of Piedmont; four brothers, Danny Gilbert of Cleveland, Roy Gilbert (Susan), of Dacusville, and Rev. Rick Gilbert (Maria), of Easley; two sisters, Kay Smith (Ray), of Annapolis, MD, and Jeanette Perkins (Terry), of Tallahassee, FL; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rev. Ron Gilbert Memorial Fund, c/o Robinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 387, Easley, SC 29641.

The family is at the home of Robbie and Leslie Moon, 427 Whitt Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.
