Ronald C. Bates

Ronald Carl Bates, 80, husband of the late Emma Davis Bates, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Carl Bates and Gloria Seagle Maw.
Mr. Bates was retired owner in the heating and air industry. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Greenville and a lifetime member of the Brandon Masonic Lodge #279 A.F.M. where he was Past Worshipful Master and a 32nd degree Scottish Rites KCCH. He enjoyed shopping on television and in his younger years, drag racing. He proudly served his country in the US Army.
Surviving are a son, James Karl Bates (Leisa) of Greer; daughters, Paula Bates Fortenberry (Leland) of Campobello, and Victoria Bates Griffin (Alan) of Evans, CO; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a step brother, David Nelson Bates of Raleigh, NC; and a step sister, Elaine Wade of Lebanon, TN.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Christine Bates Pace; sisters, Donna Courtamanche and Sherian Ann Welsh; and a brother, Richard Virgil Bates.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
