Ronald K. Kellogg, 83, of Greenville, South Carolina, husband of the late Mary Bailey Kellogg, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
Ronald was born in upstate New York, where he developed his athletic talent for baseball. His prowess was soon recognized when he signed a professional contract with the St. Louis Cardinals upon completing high school. An unexpected injury turned a promising career into adversity. Ronald found resilience and channeled his passion into serving his country during the Vietnam War, displaying his unwavering commitment and bravery through all those he trained as a drill sergeant. He continued to shape young minds even after fulfilling his time in the military by volunteering his time and knowledge into coaching Little League.
After many years of hard work and excelling at any job he set his sights on, he embarked on a path of entrepreneurship with his wife. Microwave Telecommunications Repair was born, and through their tireless efforts, they were able to accomplish many incredible things including doing sound work for several other countries. Through all of their illustrious work they maintained a standard of professional excellence and integrity which cannot be bought, earning the admiration and respect of all those whom they encountered. They built their own home from the foundation up in rural Virginia, where Ronald was in his element as he always was outdoors. In a short time he transformed a cornfield into many acres of grass and planted hundreds of trees that are still thriving to this day.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ronald will be remembered for his unparalleled sense of humor. Even in the face of uncertainty, he had the inclination to make others laugh. With a quick wit and ability to talk to anyone from all walks of life, he could lighten any room he entered. His jokes brought much-needed levity to countless faces and served as a reminder that life is meant to be cherished and celebrated.
Ronald's greatest source of pride was his role as a loving husband to his late wife Mary, and a devoted family member to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family was at the core of Ronald's being, and he showered them with unconditional love and unwavering support throughout his life. The memories they shared together will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
