Ronald Frank Purpura, 81, of Pendleton, husband to Joyce Alewine Purpura, passed away October 5, 2021.
Born in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Stella Antenozzi Purpura. After graduating from high school, Mr. Purpura served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was the owner and operator of Greenville Street Grocery in Pendleton for many years. Ronald was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, a founding member of Pendleton Rescue Squad and former American Legion Vice Commander.
Mr. Purpura is survived by his wife, Joyce Alewine Purpura; daughter, Kimberly Howard (Olin) of Pendleton; grandchildren, Anya Allen (Blake), Selena Owens (Anthony) Miranda Smith (Shannon) and Brandon Howard (Donnette). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents and first wife, Vivian Barker Purpura.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens, Clemson. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
