Rosemarie “Pat” Leidy, 89, of Easley, a cherished friend, devoted mother, and beloved matriarch, passed away on December 24, 2025. Born on May 1, 1936, she grew up as the youngest of nine children in a close-knit family.
For Pat, family was not just important; it was everything. She held strong to the traditions of Sunday dinners and big family holidays. As a true matriarch, she created a haven for her loved ones, and her home was always filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals prepared with love.
Her marriage to John C. Leidy thrived for 51 years, a journey adorned with countless joyful moments, travel adventures, and shared dreams. Together, they raised their children in a home that she filled with home-cooked meals, big holidays, and tons of love.
Pat's personality shone brightly in her community. She was a good friend and a great neighbor. She had a special gift for making people feel welcomed and valued, often seen on her porch with a smile, ready for a chat or to share treats. Her ability to see the best in everyone and her forgiving nature endeared her to many. She truly cared for those around her, always putting others before herself.
In addition to her nurturing spirit, Pat found joy in her hobbies. She loved her work as a florist, bringing beauty to the world through her arrangements and the flowers she grew in her gardens.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She dedicated years to singing in the choir, sharing her beautiful voice with her church community. She also took great joy in making floral arrangements for the homebound elderly members of her church, offering comfort and beauty to those in need.
Pat leaves behind her son, John M. Leidy (Diana), her daughters, Tammy Kozic (Jack), Lorie Stouthamer (Steve); her grandchildren, Michelle Garner (Zach), Matthew Leidy, Rebecca Rutledge (John), Jillian King (Will), Melissa Kozic, Adam Kozic (Shelley), Spencer Stouthamer (Allie) and Kayla Stouthamer; her great-grandchildren, Emily Leidy, Cooper Cassada, Jake Cassada, Elizabeth King, Evan King, Kaylee Jones, Layla Grace Jones, Logan Jones, Ellis Kozic, and Henry Kozic.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Lillian Sassaman; her husband, John C. Leidy; her daughter, Judy Lutz; and her siblings, Norman Sassaman, Darwin Sassaman, William Sassaman, Ronald Sassaman, Shirley Gansser, Melba Agnew, June Bleam, and Margie Howell.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Providence Presbyterian Church in Easley, SC, with a funeral service following at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately afterward in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Rd, Easley, SC.
