Roy William Bailey,72, of 110 Kathryn Drive, husband of the late Doris Marie Purkey, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in New York, a son of the late Horace Leroy and Margaret Cecilia Folds Bailey. Mr. Bailey was retired from Roadway Express after thirty years service, a past Master and Secretary of Mountain Springs Lodge; Illustrious 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason; Right Worshipful past District Deputy Grand Master of the SC Grand Lodge A.F.M.; Right Illustrious District Deputy Grand Master and Knight York Cross of Honor member of York Rite; Worthy Patron of Eastern Star; past Sovereign Master of Pelham Council 263 Allied Mason Degrees. He served his country from 1956-1959 in the US Marine Corp. Mr. Bailey was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jay B. Bailey (Julie) of Greenville, Howard James Bailey (Debbie) of Palm Coast, Florida; one daughter, Twinkle E. Frederiksen (Spencer) of Folsom, Ca; two sisters, Barbara Ann Jewell (Lawrence) Audrey D. Burrell (Arthur) both of Brewster, NY; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Jordan and Noah Bailey, Jessica and Jennifer Crane, and Savannah and Adaline Frederiksen.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a sister, Marlene Dowd.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home- Downtown, with the Reverend Paul Turner officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Bean Station, TN.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.
