Roy Jones Campbell, Jr. , 83, of Clemson, a devoted husband of Cecile Garrett Campbell for 64 years, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home in Anderson, SC.
Born in Rome, GA he was the son of the late Rusha Busby and Roy J. Campbell, Sr. After 33 years of service, Roy retired from Clemson University. He was also a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Roy was a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Mark (Deanna) Campbell of Charlotte; daughter, Debbie (Tommy) Johnson of Anderson; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Setzer and Jeremy Johnson; and 2 great-grandchildren, Addyson and Carly Setzer.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Tuesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central with Dr. Rusty Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:50 PM, Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
In honor of the excellent care that Mr. Campbell received the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clemson Downs Nursing Facility, 500 Downs Blvd., Clemson, SC 29631 or to the Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.
