Roy Hershel Leatherwood, Jr., 91, of Easley, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his home.
Born in Seneca, SC, he was the son of the late Roy Hershel Leatherwood, Sr. and Mary Tapp Leatherwood. He spent the majority of his childhood years at Cateechee Mill Village and was a graduate of Liberty High School.
“Britch”, one of his many nicknames, was retired from Platt Saco-Lowell after many years of dedicated service. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed playing and watching baseball, fishing at Fripp Island, gardening, and eating a good meal with friends and family. He was a faithful member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and proudly served his country in Japan during the Korean War for the US Army.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Sandra Stewart Leatherwood; his son, Robert Stewart Leatherwood and his wife, Shannon, of Easley; his beloved grandchildren, Mary Stewart Leatherwood, Margaret Caswell “Meg” Leatherwood, and William Hershel “Will” Leatherwood; and a sister, Patricia Klebe and her husband, Carl, of Pickens.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 29, 2022, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. The family will greet friends and family immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Dream Center, 111 Hillcrest Drive, Suite A, Easley, SC 29640 or Camp McCall, 108 Ambassador Road, Sunset, SC 29685.
The family will be at the home.
