Mr. Roy Elmer Whittemore, 77, of Easley passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Roy was born in Barnardsville, NC on December 25, 1938 to the late Talmadge and Gradie Gasaway Whittemore. A loving person, he was very friendly and outgoing. Roy never met a stranger, and worked as a mechanical foreman for Carolina Power and Light (now Progress Energy) and in his free time he loved cars, motorcycles, and horses. Roy attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Mr. Whittemore is survived by a daughter; Jean Smith (Ed) of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother; John Whittemore (Elsa) of Penrose, NC; and two sisters; Lois Capps of Easley, and Norma Morgan of Fletcher, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren; John Smith (Jill) of Matthews, NC and Eric Smith (Kelcey) of Cincinnati; two great grandchildren; Logan Smith and Audrey Smith; a special niece; Lynn Capps of Easley; his wife of 11 years; Anna Whittemore; and several nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by a brother; Alden Whittemore.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 12, 2016 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley. Interment will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery in Anderson.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the Funeral Home.
