Royal E. Lappin

Royal Eugene Lappin, 83, of 206 Asbury Circle, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at The Haven in Greenville, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born in LeRoy, Minnesota, Mr. Lappin was a son of the late Robert and Emily Mahoney Lappin. He attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa and the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.
He retired as Chief Financial Officer from Southern Weaving/Woven Electronics and was previously employed as Controller at Sangamo Electric for ten years. He was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church and had served on the Boards of Pickens County Red Cross and Meals-On-Wheels. Mr. Lappin served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Betty Owens Lappin, of the home; three sons, Thomas E. Lappin and his wife, Maria, of Greer, David O. Lappin and his wife, Harriet, Daniel C. Lappin and his wife, Kim, all of Easley; two daughters, Nancy L. Callahan and her husband, Sonny, of Greer, and Lisa L. Lucas and her husband, Barry, of Cumming, GA; a brother, Garth Lappin of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Carol Mahoney of New Hampton, Iowa, and Helen Noble of LeRoy, MN; eleven grandchildren, Christopher and Marisa Lappin, Chelsea and Zachary Lappin, Benjamin and Matthew Lappin, Kelli and Jacob Callahan, Clay, Ben and Eliza Lucas; an expected great-grandchild; and three step-grandchildren, Grady, Brian and Casey Callahan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lappin was precedeased by a daughter, Dianna Marie Lappin; and a sister, Marjorie Eastvold.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with the Rev. Christie Gravely and the Rev. Casey Callahan officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
