Rudolph Painter - Easley
Marvin Rudolph Painter, 84, formerly of Laurel Road, Easley, husband of JoAnne Powell Painter, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at National Health Care of Mauldin.
Born in Easley, the son of the late Marvin E. and Roxie Laura Young Painter, Rudolph graduated from Easley High School in 1947 where he was president of his senior class. He attended Draughn's Business College and took courses at Clemson University and North Carolina State in Cotton Classing and Marketing. Rudolph served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955.
In 1973, he was named a vice-president of Alice Manufacturing Company and served as chairman of the SC Textile Manufacturing Association Cotton Buyer's Division.
Rudolph served as past president of the Easley Rotary Club and also served on the Baptist Medical Center Board of Directors for fifteen years serving as vice-chairman for one year. He served on the Board of Directors of Fort Hill Natural Gas and served as vice-chairman from 1994 to 2004.
He was formerly a member of Arial Baptist Church where he taught the Men's Bible Class and served as chairman of the deacons for many years. Rudolph joined Rock Springs Baptist Church in 2000 where he was teacher of the Disciples for Christ Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, JoAnne Powell Painter: two sons, Rudy Painter and his wife, Marsha, of Greer and Stanley E. Painter and his wife, Cindy, of Simpsonville; a sister, Wadella Hendrix of Easley; ten grandchildren, Joey (Dasha), Dusty (Betsay), Carly , Valerie, Wesley, Trevor, Chad and Jason Campbell and Lauren Campbell; a great-granddaughter, Ruby, and two great-grandsons, Jackson and Xavier.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 PM Friday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating.
Private entombment will be at 3:00 PM Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Friday in the Family Life Center of Rock Springs Baptist Church, immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Arial Baptist Church, 618 Rice Road, Easley, SC 29640 or to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.
