Rudolph "Doc" Simmons, 87, husband of the late Helen Meece Simmons, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at Richard Campbell Veterans Home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Seth Julius Simmons and Estelle Riggins Simmons, he was a graduate of Easley High School and MUSC in Charleston. Mr. Simmons was the owner of a Liberty favorite, Simmons Rexall Drugs for twenty-three years where after school crowds gathered for his soda fountain treats. He was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church and a US Navy Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, Michael Simmons; two daughters; Marsha (MJ) Shetron and Michele Fisher; two sisters, Cleon Sanders and Jean Burgess; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Simmons was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Ross, Julia Simmons and Nan Childs; one brother, Cecil Simmons.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 28, 2013 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
