Mary Ruth Stansell Collins, 82, of 162 McGaha Road, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at her home.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Jackson Keith and Winnie Chappell Stansell, Mrs. Collins was a certified nursing assistant and retired as the activity director for Laurel Hill Living Center. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and had served as a former Sunday School Teacher at several churches.

Surviving are her husband, Rev. Lester Collins of the home; a son, Aron Collins (Diane) of Easley; a daughter, Nancy Hunter (Ronald) of Easley; three brothers, Kenneth Stansell and Roy Stansell, both of Easley, and Houston Stansell of Sunset; a sister, Kate Carman of Tallahassee, FL; six grandchildren, Richard (Mary) Collins, Greg (Sherri) Collins, B.J. (Stacie) Collins, Ron S. (Julie) Hunter, Russ (Tanya) Hunter and Ryan (Erin) Hunter ; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Bertha Whitlock, Grace Morgan and Louise Holcombe ; brothers, Birce Stansell, J.D. Stansell, Dover Stansell and Kead Stansell ; a daughter-in-law, Joan Collins and a great-granddaughter, Elle Hunter.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev.Bobby Marchbanks, Rev. Tommy Hayes and Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

The family is at the residence.
