Ruth Shirley Fields, Clemson
Ruth Shirley Fields, 86, widow of Luther J. Fields, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Alterra Sterling House in Central. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Winnie Ashley Shirley. She was a retired school teacher of which she taught 19 of her 30 years in Pickens County. She was a 1945 graduate of Erskine College and a member of Clemson United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, Luke Fields, Clemson, Ken Fields, Simsonville ; daughter, Gwen Spencer, Columbia; sister, Kathleen Ragsdale, Honea Path; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2PM at Clemson United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson. The family will receive friends Monday from 1-2pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 590, Clemson, SC 29633.
