Ruth B. Jameson

Ruth Bird Jameson, 85, of 107 Crestwood Drive, widow of Lake Hugh Jameson Sr., died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Clemson Downs due to respiratory failure.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late John P. Bird Sr. and Gladys Hunt Bird. She was a graduate of Lander College with a BS in Home Economics. In 1944, her senior year, she was honored at college by being chosen May Queen and was named Miss Lander. She was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. Ruth was an avid gardener and in her later years, enjoyed traveling, researching her family history and following her beloved Tigers.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Lake H. Jameson Jr. and wife, Pat, of Clemson, Ronald B. Jameson and wife, Jean of Clemson; one daughter, Cynthia Stoddard and husband, Mark, of Clemson; two sisters, Martha B. Mobley of Marietta, GA, Joan B. Holland of Greenville; six grandchildren, Andrew Lake Jameson and wife Misty, Meghan Jameson Sutton and husband Troy, Michael Stoddard, Greg Stoddard, Laura Jameson, Anna Jameson; and a great-grandson, Wesley L. Jameson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, J. Phifer Bird, Jr., and Dr. Luther Bird; and a sister, Julia Bird.
A graveside service will be 2 PM Friday at Cemetery Hill on the Clemson University campus with Reverend Pat Kelley officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday night from 5 PM until 7 PM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
