Ruth Durham McWhorter, 87. formerly of Easley and widow of Manning Van Buren McWhorter, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at National Health Care in Laurens.
Born in Six Mile, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ada Woodson Durham, she was a homemaker and a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Van McWhorter and wife, Deborah, of Laurel, Mississippi and Calvin B. McWhorter of West Columbia, SC; one daughter, Glenda Mulligan and husband, Jim, of Liberty; one brother, Bernis Durham of Liberty; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Doug Goss officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 PM, Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of the daughter, Glenda Mulligan, 6 Ridgeline Drive, Liberty, SC 29657.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church, 115 Slab Bridge Road, Liberty, SC 29657.
