On April 28, 2024, Ruth Hill Miller, 86, went to meet her Lord and Savior after an extended illness.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Frances Petty and James L. Hill, Sr.
Mrs. Miller was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church for over 22 years and donated her time and attendance to her Bible Fellowship class and the Joyful Hearts Ministry. She also demonstrated her love for others through her card ministry; "happiharts". She dearly loved being a parent, grandparent, sister, and friend to all and treasured her time with family. Her greatest gift was her ability to love others.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her three children, Debbie Merritt (David), Ken Cooley (Kellie), and Teresa Billig (Joe); a sister, Mary Frances Hill; a brother, James L. Hill, Jr. (Carolyn); and sister-in-law, Ruth Warlick. She was an active and involved grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of fifteen.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Martha Dobbins; and her spouses, James Steele Cooley and Master Sgt. William Truett "Bill" Miller.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024 at Rock Springs Baptist Church Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024 at Rock Springs Baptist Church Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West, 4814 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.
The family will be meeting at the home of daughter, Debbie Merritt at 4:00 p.m.
Her family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the extraordinary caregivers at Oakview Assisted Living Facility, Crescent Hospice, and Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
Her memory will forever dwell in the hearts of those lives she touched and can be summed up through the following scriptures:
1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity" and John 15:12 "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."
To know God is the only way to know what real love is. She was an example of real love.
