Ruth Cantrell Phillips, 89, widow of the late R. Donald Phillips, passed from this life on Thursday, October 6, 2016.


Born in Liberty on September 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Sallie Lucretia Chapman Cantrell.


Mrs. Phillips was a lover of music. She was the church organist for Arial United Methodist Church in Easley and was also a very talented artist.


Surviving are her children, Vicky Ellis (Rick) of Easley and Derrick Phillips (Susan) of Walhalla; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Cantrell King of Statesville, NC; a brother, Robert Cantrell (Katie) of Six Mile; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Billy Joe Simpson of Pickens.


In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Roy E. Cantrell.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Reverend Roger Gwinn officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.


The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the funeral home.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Arial United Methodist Church, 829 Gentry Memorial Highway, Easley, SC 29640 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.


The family will be at the home of Rick and Vicky Ellis, 356 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.
