Ruth Haynie Swindler, age 103, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Foothills Presbyterian Home in Easley, S.C. She was born in Greenville County, and was the daughter of the late Edwin Rose and Jennie Bowie Haynie and was the widow of James Lance Swindler.
She was educated in the Greenville city schools. She was a bookkeeper and accountant by profession, working at Keith's Company, Inc. and Ideal Laundry.
Mrs. Swindler enjoyed playing bridge, going to baseball and football games with her husband and going to Highlands, NC, where he played golf and she walked the course with him.
After moving to Easley, Mrs. Swindler became a member of Easley Presbyterian Church. Her faith led her to various areas of service. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, supported many charitable organizations and participated in Bible study and prayer groups.
Mrs. Swindler attributed her long life to her faith in God, a loving husband and happy times spent with family and friends. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife and a sweet lady whose loving spirit touched all who knew her.
Mrs. Swindler is survived by cousins Franklin Breazeale, Charles Mayhew, Wheeler Powell, and Mary Louise Roe.
Graveside funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville.
The memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Foothills Presbyterian Home, Easley.
