Ruth Candler Wilson, of Piedmont, passed away quietly on September 1, 2015. She went to heaven to be with the love of her life for thirty-two years of marriage, the late Herbert Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Owen who lived beside her in the Brushy Creek Community and her son, Michael Wilson of Ann Arbor, Michigan, sister, Martha Boling of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Zachary Owen, Piedmont SC, Katie Owen, Columbia, SC, and Kelsy Wilson, Paris, France, and great-grandchildren, Maisie and Kaden.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers Jack and Paul Candler.
Ruth was a long time resident of the Brushy Creek Community and loyal member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. Ruth and Herbert ran a dairy for many years on the family farm. After his death she worked and retired from the Kemet Corporation. Her joy and passion however was serving her church and community. When it was common place to help with bereaving families, she managed the church's responsibility to provide food and help to the family. She loved to cook and nothing was more rewarding than preparing something to help someone else. She also served her community by delivering meals for the "Meals on Wheels of Anderson County" to those who could not provide for themselves. This loving and caring person delivered meals until the time she had surgery. She was an avid gardener with great respect for the earth and what abundance it can provide. Ruth leaves a legacy of kindness and caring. She lived a simple and gentle life, leaving this earth a better place with exemplary actions on how to treat mankind and the earth we share. Everyone who she met loved her warm smile and cheerfulness which will forever be imbedded in our souls. For all this we are thankful to have known her and call her Mom.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2015 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.
The family will receive friends following the service.
