Sallie Yates Box, 86, of 109 Ashley Road, Clemson, SC, left this world for heaven's glories on July 5, 2020.
She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and from that love flowed all the virtues of her life. She was a gracious, loving wife, faithfully loving her husband, Benton (in sickness and in health) for 67 1/2 years, until God called him home in July 2019. She was a great Mom who raised 3 godly kids, and was intentional about investing in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She obeyed the Scriptures about caring for her own, and set the example for our family by caring for her mother-in-law, her brother-in-law, her father, and her husband until the end of their lives.
She had an infectious smile and a permanent sparkle in her eyes. She showed love in practical ways, ministering to everyone around her, whether family, neighbor, or someone in a hospital bed near hers. She was faithful about sharing the Gospel with others. She loved her church family (First Baptist, Clemson) and the many adopted students whom she treasured and stayed in touch with over the years.
She loved to cook, travel, and get into all kinds of projects. She followed in her father's footsteps by continuing to record the genealogy of our immediate families.
While recovering from her recent illness, Sallie found new purpose in Titus 2, planning to teach the young wives in our family how to love their husbands, to love their children, to be faithful and do the work that God called them to do. In God's providence, that plan didn't come about before she finished her race.
Her suffering was short, but her joy is everlasting!
She was the daughter of Adlai Robin and Gladys May Collins Yates. She is survived by her 3 children, Ben, Jr. (Kim) of Columbia, Bill (Jan), and Janice (Mike) Bishop of Clemson; 6 grandchildren, Bryan Box, Josh (Meg) Bishop, Beth (Chaise) Porter, Meredith (Richard) Cooley, Sallie (Jon) Shaw, and Callie Box; 3 great-grands, Haley and Caroline Shaw and Stockton Bishop; sister, Janice Yates Peters, and niece Sue (Jay) of Flagtown, NJ.
Due to Covid-19 services will be private at a later time.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Clemson, 397 College Avenue, Clemson, SC, 29631.
