Sallie Sims Wilson, born February 25, 1925, of 306 Brockman Drive, Easley, SC and Givens Estate, Asheville, NC, wife of the late Hobart Gregory Wilson, died Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the John F Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, NC.
Born in Lancaster County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. Sims and Rosa Satterfield Sims Stroud.
Mrs. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Lander College and a Master of Arts degree at Clemson University. She was a dedicated teacher with a 30-year career which included teaching English and Civics for 24 years at Easley Junior High School. She served in many scholastic and civic organizations, including over 50 years in the Woman's Club of Easley, the Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and the boards of Easley Friends of the Library and the Pickens County Library. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Easley.
Surviving are two sons, Greg Wilson and fiance Pamela McCown of Asheville, NC, and former daughter-in-law Jackie Wilson of Huntsville, AL; Kirk Wilson and wife Lee Ann of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Nancy Wilson Butler and husband Lee of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Marie McAbee and husband Kenneth, of Gilbert, SC; seven grandchildren, Ryan Wilson, Lindsey McMicken and husband Tim; Laura Raby and husband Doug; Scott Wilson, Angela Walker and husband Heath Tomar; Alexandra Butler; and Elise Butler.
The funeral will be held in Easley SC, 2:00 PM Thursday, September 6, 2007, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Jim Correll officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2007, 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family will be receiving friends and family at 306 Brockman Drive, Easley SC.
