Sammie Caroline Bowen McAbee, 85, of Greenville, SC, the daughter of the late Samuel Hunt Bowen and Sylvia Snider Bowen, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 29th, at Oakview Park Assisted Living in Powdersville.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jimmie William McAbee, in 2009. Together they founded and worked side by side to grow McAbee's Custom Carpet that is still family operated by their three daughters.
She was a member of the graduating class of Easley High School Class of 1950, and earned a bachelor degree in English from Winthrop College. Sammie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served with the United Methodist Women for many years.
Mrs. McAbee is survived by her three daughters: Rebecca Lanford (Joel) of Greenville, Deborah Wimberly (Ed) of Simpsonville, and Pamela Hoyt (John) of Easley, grandchildren, Matthew Wimberly (Jennifer) of Marietta, GA, Katie Wimberly of Atlanta, GA, Megan Hoyt of Columbia, Lt. Brett Albertson of Columbus AFB, and one great-grandchild, Hayes Wimberly.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Oakview Park and Pruitt Hospice for the kindness shown to their Mom in her last few months.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with burial to follow in Westview Cemetery in Easley.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
