Samuel Evatt

Samuel McWhorter Evatt, 81, formerly of Summitt Drive, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at NHC Healthcare of Greenville.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Samuel Clayton and Izetta McWhorter Evatt, Mr. Evatt retired from Vulcan Materials and was of the Church of God faith. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Navy.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-three years, Mildred Pierce Evatt of the home; two sons, Frank Evatt and wife, Elaine, of Williamston, and Morris Evatt and wife, Sandra, of Easley; a brother, William "Willie" Evatt of Easley; a sister, Sarah Willis of Easley; eight grandchildren, Brian Evatt, Russell Evatt, Michelle Trusty, Chad Evatt, Nicole Strange, Jeremy Evatt, Dustin Evatt and Parker Evatt; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Evatt was predeceased by six brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, prior to the service
