Samuel David Holcombe, Jr., 83, formerly of Pineview Drive, husband of the late Frances Jean Brewer Holcombe, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Center.
Born is Keltis, TX, the son of the late Samuel David Holcombe, Sr. and the late Lela Garrett Holcombe Nalley, Mr. Holcombe retired from the Glenwood Plant of Mayfair Mills and was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Tritley and husband, Jerry, of Hoschton, GA, and Phyllis Bowie and husband, Greg, of Spartanburg; two step-brothers, Lloyd Nalley of Easley and Eugene Nalley of Loris; a step-sister, Ruby Gambrell of
Easley; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Holcombe was predeceased by a son, Bryan Holcombe, a sister, Edith Rogers and a grandson, Douglas Ross.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Pendleton Street Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Willis and Rev. Gordon Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church, prior to the service.
