Sandra Schroding Barlow, 86, of Clemson, South Carolina, wife to Dr. Thomas W. Barlow, passed away August 8, 2026.

Born in Newport News, VA, she was the daughter of the late William J. Schroding and Lillian Jones Schroding. She attended Smithfield High, where she was a cheerleader and excelled in basketball. After marrying her high school sweetheart in 1959, she worked to put Tom through school at Clemson University and the University of Georgia Veterinarian school. After graduation, they moved back to Virginia and started raising a family. Sandra was the school secretary for Crimora Elementary. Here she would meet some of her closest friends, where they worked hard, but played even harder. Always on the go, either following Kim and Tommy in sporting events, weekly dances at the Moose lodge or couples golfing trips, there was always laughter!

In 1983, the family moved to Tallahassee, Florida. Sandra went on to a career with the FTP-NEA (Florida Teaching Profession-National Education Association). She wore many hats in the office, but one of her favorite tasks was to plan and coordinate conferences. After retiring, Sandra and Tom enjoyed traveling the country in their RV. Sandra loved taking the grandchildren on their RV adventures. They were members of the Good Sams Camping Club, Family Motor Coach Association, and Newmar Kountry Club. Their favorite RV spot was in Lot 4 at Clemson University for Clemson sports and tailgating. No matter the sport or season, they enjoyed the many friendships created by following the Tigers. After many years of traveling in the RV, they decided to find a new home and found Clemson Downs in Clemson, South Carolina. Here, for the last 14 years, they slowed down and enjoyed the community and wonderful staff. As season ticket holders in football, basketball, softball and baseball, many days were filled cheering for the Tigers. Sandra was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed volunteering at Clemson Downs. Sandra will be remembered by her family and friends for her distinct laugh and happy and positive attitude.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas W. Barlow; children, Thomas W. Barlow, Jr. (Kathy) and Kimberly Meeks (Mike); grandchildren, Brittney (Nolan), Lindsey, Alexsis (Dylan), Matthew, and Parker; great-grandchildren, Levi, Hunter, Kaden, and Kallie.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents and siblings, William B. Schroding and Carolyn S. Ray.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
