Memorial services for Sandra Jeanne Crandall, 82, of Easley, South Carolina, will be held on Wednesday, June 10th at 2:00 P.M. with Visitation beginning at 12:30 P.M. at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown 305 West Main Street, Easley, SC, 29640.
Sandra, affectionately known to many as "Sandy" or "GDawg," passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 6th, 2026, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Sandy was born on September 20, 1943, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Shinkle and Juanita Mae (Settle) Smith. She grew up in Kansas and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1961. Though she left Kansas as a young adult, she maintained many close, lifelong relationships with beloved friends and relatives across the region.
In 1963, while attending the University of Kansas, Sandy met and was later united in marriage to James Leonard Crandall. Together, they shared a life of adventure, eventually following in their Crandall family's footsteps to open Smokerise Kennels in Warrior, Alabama. There, they successfully bred, raised, and showcased purebred Bloodhounds. Sandy was deeply involved in every aspect of the business—from tenderly weaning puppies to handling champion dogs at AKC Dog Shows. Jim preceded her in death on October 22, 1995.
Sandy’s remarkable work ethic spanned decades. She began her professional journey in the days of manual switchboards, physically connecting calls by plugging in cords. She quickly excelled in the secretarial arts, famously boasting a typing speed of 120 words per minute on the IBM Selectric typewriter. Sandy spent the cornerstone of her career as a dedicated legal secretary at the Wyche Law Firm in Greenville, South Carolina, retiring in 2021 after 38 years of dedicated and exceptional service.
Above all, family was Sandy's greatest joy, and she served as its loving matriarch. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren, whom she adored completely. She loved traveling and took them on countless memorable adventures, even taking them abroad to explore the world. Closer to home, she cherished trips to the beach, kept her mind sharp with daily crossword puzzles, and never missed an episode of her favorite game show, Jeopardy!. She leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, strength, and warmth, and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gage Stancil, and her sister, Nancy Ann Jaeger.
Survivors include her three children, Craig Crandall and his wife, Lisa, Robin Rhodes and her husband, Steven, Stacy Stancil and her husband, Robbie, and her brother, Gerald (Gary) Smith and his wife, Linda, of Lawrence, Kansas. She is also survived by her four cherished grandchildren, Candice Esuary (Corey), McKenzie Rhoda, Cassidy Caron (Trenton), and JC Wright; and her five precious great-grandchildren, Boone, Birdie, Calhoun, Vaughn, and Knox.
Though her family will miss her dearly, they take comfort in a lifetime of cherished memories and the love she shared so generously with all who knew her.
