Sandra Underwood, 81, of Clemson, and wife of Dr. Richard A. Underwood, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 11, 2023. 

She was born December 14, 1941 in Highland Park, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Delores Campbell Hayes. Sandra lived in Michigan and graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit, and later worked at General Motors in the summer of 1962 where she met Richard, and they got married in November of that year. Their son, Eric Michael, was born in June of 1968. Sandra, Richard and Eric moved to Clemson in 1970. Richard was a professor at Clemson University. Sandra also worked for the University and was the head of the Strategic Planning Department there before her retirement. Sandra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (with honors) from Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri in 1987. Sandra also authored a book called Eric's Story, and several books about Orbs, Lightwaves and Cosmic Consciousness!  Sandra had many wonderful qualities. Her husband, Richard would like her to be remembered for her incredible intelligence and her sister, Janice, would like her to be remembered for her extreme generosity.

Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard Underwood of Clemson, a sister. Janice Young, and her husband Dave of Athens, Michigan, 1 niece and 2 nephews and their spouses, 9 (+1) great nieces and nephews , and 1 great great nephew.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by their beloved son, Eric Underwood.

In lieu of a memorial service, a private dinner may take place.  

Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family. 

Not pictured: new members to Sandra's family: Davontae and Atlas Kanjari, Sandra's great niece, Kennedy's fiance and baby, who, sadly, Sandra never had the pleasure of meeting!
