Sandy A. Glenney

Sandra Anne Glenney, lovingly known as Sandy, entered the presence of her Savior on August 12, 2026. She was born on April 17, 1956, to Vincent and Elizabeth Sayre in Watertown, New York, during a terrific blizzard. She had one older brother Douglas who preceded her in death earlier this year. She spent her childhood wading through the New York snow, scraping ice from the windows of her farmhouse and wandering the fields in search of arrowheads. Faithful influences in Sandy's life her parents, dear friend and mentor and missionaries, Nancy, Aunt Lillie and Uncle Jim, stirred a desire for her to know Christ. Sandy committed her life to Jesus while working summers at Word of Life camps.

An exceptional student, Sandy rose to academic excellence in high school securing a scholarship to Cedarville University. While there she met the great love of her life and married David James Glenney on September 11, 1976. Sandy graduated Summa cum Laude with a degree in Biblical Studies, the only woman in that field of study. She accepted this high honor while pregnant with her first. Dave and Sandy were blessed with two children, Michelle and Brian. Michelle is married to Curtis and together they have 5 children, 3 adopted: Mikayla (20), Marcell (16), Isaac (16), Cadyn (14), and Ezra (13). They serve as missionaries in Chicago. Brian is married to Jessica, and they have 3 beautiful blessings. Brian (12), Elizabeth (5), and Baby William, 3 months. Brian and Jessica reside in Pelzer.

After graduation Dave and Sandy moved to Virginia to raise their family. They were members of Fellowship Bible Church. Sandy wrote and taught many Bible curriculums for both adults and children. She was a gifted teacher and published author. Later in life Sandy discovered a passion for the law. She enrolled in George Mason University School of Law graduating in 1997. Sandy's reputation for excellence and integrity, earned her the respected position of Guardian ad Litem for Loudoun County, Virginia. It was here where her sense of justice, her grit and resilient spirit were fortified. For more than a decade, she championed the rights of children in foster care. Her work was more than a profession it was a ministry displaying the gospel. She received numerous awards recognizing her commitment to justice. Yet those who knew her understood that her greatest aim was not recognition or awards but a desire to glorify the Lord and serve well those she advocated for.

Following retirement, Dave and Sandy moved to Easley, South Carolina, to be near Brian and his family. They treasured the opportunity to help care for their grandson Little Brian, who has special needs. These years were filled with joy, refreshment, and the blessing of family. They became active members of Community Bible Church, where they found cherished friendships and a loving church family.

Sandy’s life reflected a steadfast faith, a brilliant mind, a compassionate heart, and an unwavering commitment to truth. Whether teaching God's Word, advocating for the vulnerable, writing, or investing in her family, she sought to honor Christ. Her legacy will continue through the countless lives she influenced with her humor and wisdom.

Sandy is survived by her devoted husband of nearly fifty years, Dave; her daughter, Michelle, and husband Curtis; her son, Brian, and wife Jessica; her eight beloved grandchildren; numerous extended family members; and countless beloved friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Community Bible Church, 8005 Highway 81 N, Easley, SC, 29642 with her Celebration of Life following at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 4125 Powdersville Rd., Easley, SC 29642.
