Sara Chastain Howard

Born in Slabtown, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Lillian Stephens Chastain. Sara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5093, Easley, SC.  She could often be found reading a good book and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a very loving and giving person who would help anyone in any way possible. Sara was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Easley. 

She is survived by two sons, James “Jimmy” Howard (Candace) and Robin Howard (Kathy); two daughters, Gay Dacus (Gary) and Katelynn Howard (Steven); five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nine beloved nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, W. Charles Chastain; two grandsons, Kevin Howard, and Chris Howard; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Howard. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. A funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private at a later date.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Gay Dacus.
