Sara Brown Shipman

Sara Brown Shipman, 91, of Easley, beloved wife of the late Carl Edward Shipman, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Born on March 13, 1935, in Piedmont, SC, to the late Jesse Brown and the late Sally Hawthorne Brown.

Sara loved the Lord and was a cherished member of Siloam Baptist Church.

She was a devoted wife who adored her family. She especially enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren, who called her “Noonie”.

Sara found peace and solace spending time in the mountains of TN. She was an avid gardener, whose hands could cultivate anything that grew in soil from a variety of flowers to fruits and vegetables. She was happy spending time outside.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by son, Mike Shipman; grandson, Stephen Shipman; great-granddaughter, Kai Shipman and sisters, Jessie, Lona and Nell.

She is survived by sons, David Shipman (Gwen) and Ray Shipman (Donna); daughter-in-law, Til Shipman; grandchildren, Brad (Erin), Andrew (Megan), Eric (Krissy), Zane (Jessica) and Hunter (Percy); twelve great-grandchildren and nephew, Billy McCall, who was thought of as more of a brother to her.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:15 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Siloam Baptist Church with her funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM. Burial will be held in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.
