Sarah Edens Clarke, 98, wife of the late Hoyt Samuel Clarke, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Pickens County, to the late Sydney B. and Emma Jones Edens, Sarah was a high school graduate who went on to work for J.P. Stevens Co. for forty-five years as a warper tender until her retirement in 1979. She has been a member of Oolenoy Baptist Church, in Pumpkintown, since 1933 and was also a member of the D.A.R.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Eric David Clarke and Lucinda Clarke Schumacher; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of sixty-nine years and parents, she was predeceased by her son, David Bryan Clarke; two brothers; and three sisters.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday, prior to the graveside service at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Open Arms Hospice for all of their loving care and kindness.
