Sarah Finley Garrett, 92, wife of the late V.R. “Bird” Garrett, passed away on January 3, 2025. Sarah, born on July 4, 1932, in Pickens County, was the daughter of the late D.E. and Norma S. Finley.
Sarah was a graduate of Pickens High School. She was formerly employed by Dwight Holder at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery and later at South Carolina National Bank. A devoted member of Pickens First Baptist Church, Sarah served as a choir member and cherished her time with her Sunday School class. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and had a deep relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sarah was beloved by her family and friends. She had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her son, Scott Garrett (Gena) of Easley; three grandchildren, Brian Garrett, Taylor Hendricks (Bob), and Kelsey Maiberger (Andrew); one great-grandchild, Garrett Hendricks, and one on the way, Everett Maiberger. She was predeceased by her son, Steven Garrett, and four siblings: Pete Finley, Edna Cater, Ressie Reeves, and Rosa Houston.
A service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be held 3:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2024, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the family receiving friends prior to the service at 1:00 PM. A private burial will take place beforehand. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music ministry of Pickens First Baptist Church, 406 E. Main Street, Pickens, SC 29671.
