Sarah Murchison Mathis

Sarah Murchison Mathis, 99, of Toccoa, GA, wife of the late Archie Madison Mathis, Jr., passed away August 8, 2026.

Born in Clemson, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Anthony Murchison and Sarah Cox Murchison.

Sarah is survived by her children, Archie Madison Mathis, III and wife Melinda Schenck Mathis of Charleston, SC, Sarah “Sallie” Mathis Suttle and husband Joseph Linton Suttle, III of Shelby, NC, and Susan Mathis Hoeffner and husband Daren Patrick Hoeffner of Toccoa, GA; grandchildren, Sarah “Bebe” Elizabeth Pleasant, Archie Madison Mathis, IV (Megan Patrylick Mathis), Amanda Hart Kinslow (Tyner Banks Kinslow), Hannah “Ali” Anthony Curtis (Ryan Anthony Curtis), and William Heath Hoeffner; great-grandchildren, Archie Madison Mathis, Walsh Douglas Mathis, Tyner Banks Kinslow, and Cook Hoeffner Kinslow.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson, SC.
