Sara Elizabeth Dacus Wade, 86, wife of 69 years to R.C. Wade, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 12, 2016.Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Rebecca Lois Smith Dacus.
Mrs. Wade was a homemaker and seamstress. She also worked many years in the manufacturing industry and First Baptist Church, Easley Child Development Center. She was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, the Willing Workers Sunday School class and once a week could be seen visiting the shut-in widows of the church. A former member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church, she spent many years serving as Sunday School teacher, WMU director and choir member.
Known to her family as Grandmama, she was a loving and devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Sheila Wade Gibson and husband, Jerry; and two sons, Phillip C. Wade and Wyatt H. Wade and wife, Teresa all of Easley; former daughter-in-law, Linda Wade; six grandchildren, Billy Gibson (Joy), Brian Gibson (Susan), Stacey Brooks (Todd), Reverend Dr. Steven Wade (Jenny), Jason Wade (Mallory) and Jessica Sumney (Jimmy); sixteen great- grandchildren, Katie, Leanna, Caroline and Griffin Gibson; Wade, Aaron, Jacob, Alaina, Sydney and Maddie Brooks; Caleb, Sarah, Lydia and Anna Wade; and Drew and Nate Sumney; siblings, Paul Dacus, Betty Skelton and Ann Crowe.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Mildred Howard, Dallas, Henry, and Olin Dacus; and two great granddaughters Carlie Lynn and Ashlyn Rebekkah Brooks.
The family would like to express gratitude to a special sister-in-law, Nannie Alexander, for her care and compassion shown toward Mrs. Wade.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wade will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown with the Reverend Dr. Steven Wade and Reverend Rodney Graham officiating. Committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Jim Spencer officiating.
Family members are at their respective homes.
