Scott Kevin Healy of Pendleton, SC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13th at his residence.
Born December 4, 1957, in Bangor, Maine, Scott was the son of Albert M. Healy and the late Jeanette Douglas. Scott graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1975. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. After service in the military, Scott graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in English and received a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Scott was a talented and well-respected technical writer at Florida Blue Health Insurance Company and had many friends there.
Scott was a deeply spiritual and faithful follower of Jesus. He is remembered as an incredibly sensitive man who was attentive to the needs of his family and friends. He frequently requested prayers for others and urged those he knew to have faith in the power of Jesus to heal. Scott was also very generous and thoughtful, and frequently bought spontaneous gifts for his friends as he was going about his day. He treated the members of his church at the Clemson House Church as if they were his own family. He freely shared his fondness for his family, friends, and co-workers with anyone willing to listen. He shared so much about them that even though many of them had never met, and lived miles apart, they felt like they knew each other. Scott moved to South Carolina to be closer to his father and stepmother and immensely enjoyed his frequent visits with them. Scott was a very talented man who loved to write, discuss politics, literature, art and most of all, spiritual topics. He loved and was beloved by his neighbors here in South Carolina. One of the last things he did before his passing was to host a “pancake breakfast” for many of his neighbors. Scott also had a wonderful sense of humor that has helped us all remember him with a smile. He will be dearly missed.
Scott is survived by his father, Albert Healy and stepmother, Gloria Healy of Jonesboro, TN; brother, Anthony Healy; sister-in-law, Lori H. Owens; nephew Thomas Healy, and niece Rebecca Healy of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Joyce Elliott of Lakeland, Fl; cousins, Monica Melton of Tampa, Fl and Martha Vasquez of Virginia and many other cousins; stepsons, Gabriel Troche, Carlos Troche, and Rafael Troche; and his lifelong best friend, Gary Prescott.
Scott was predeceased by his mother, Jeanette Douglas and stepfather, Donald Douglas of Lakeland, Fl; and his brother Todd Healy of Essex Junction, Vermont.
