It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Nolan Singleton on August 4, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, trusted neighbor, and loyal friend. Scott’s life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his exceptional work ethic, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and excellence that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Scott graduated from Nashville Auto-Diesel College (NADC) in 1978 after graduating from North Greenville University. To achieve his dream, he worked construction during the day while attending school in the evenings, demonstrating the determination and perseverance that would define his life.

After graduating, Scott began his career as a forklift mechanic with Wrenn Handling in Greenville before joining Michelin Americas Research Company (MARC) in 1986. Throughout his distinguished career, he became one of the most respected technicians in his field, working on everything from heavy-duty tractor-trailers and forklifts to domestic pickup trucks, high-performance imported sports cars, and specialized racing equipment. His expertise ranged from electronic diagnostics and hydraulic systems to automatic transmissions and tire development for motorsports.

Scott’s dedication to his profession earned him numerous prestigious honors. He was named NAPA-ASE Technician of the Year twice, achieved the distinction of ASIA-ASE World Class Technician, and, at the time of his induction into the Nashville Auto-Diesel College Graduate Hall of Fame on May 21, 2004, was one of only four technicians in the world to maintain certification in all 47 ASE certification specialty areas. He also received the Chevron Diesel Technician of the Month Award and completed extensive training through South Carolina colleges and more than a dozen manufacturers. His knowledge, skill, and professionalism earned the respect of colleagues throughout the automotive industry.

While Scott’s professional accomplishments were extraordinary, they were never what mattered most to him. His greatest pride and joy was his family. Surviving is his wife of 43 years; Phyllis Key Singleton and their three children; Savannah Singleton, Hunter Singleton (Katelyn), and Sailor Singleton (Brady). He was also a loving Pop-Pop to his two granddaughters, Finley and Maebry Singleton, and was eagerly expecting the arrival of a grandson in January. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Rebecca Singleton, and is survived by his father, Charles Nolan Singleton.

To his friends and neighbors, Scott was known for his generosity, quiet strength, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether repairing a vehicle, sharing advice, or simply being there when someone needed him, Scott made a lasting impact on countless lives through his kindness and selflessness. Scott will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former coworkers, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was truly one of a kind. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, hard work, humility, and service will continue through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home Powdersville Road with his memorial service to follow at 3:30 PM in the chapel.
