Sheila O. Malmgren

August 17, 1957 — February 27, 2016

Sheila O. Malmgren, 58, of Clemson, beloved wife of John Malmgren, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. She fought cancer for six years, and finally won the battle.

Born in Gaffney, S.C., Sheila was the daughter of Genelle H. Owens and the late Monroe Owens of Six Mile. She graduated from D.W. Daniel High School in 1975, and worked in business administration at Clemson University for 26 years. She was a devout Christian, and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Central.

Sheila’s vivacious personality and positive attitude, not to mention a distinctive head of red hair, endeared her to everyone she met. She was a loyal wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who loved to tailgate at Clemson Tiger football games and dig her toes into the sand at Myrtle Beach.

Cherishing their memories of Sheila are her daughter, Ashley Malmgren, her brother Stanley Owens, sister-in-law Cindy Owens, nephew Kyle Owens, and best friend Karen Smith. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, and Max Malmgren.

In addition to her father, Sheila was preceded in death by a stepson, Jeff Malmgren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at Pendleton United Methodist Church, 217 S. Broad Street, Pendleton. Reverends Kurt McPherson and Gene Aiken will lead the service.

The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
