Shelby Barnette Alexander, 63, of Pickens, wife of James Alexander, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Claude and Mary Ellen Coggins Barnette, Shelby was the owner of Alexander's Classic Hair Design & Tanning and was a member of Secona Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband of 48 years, Shelby is survived by two daughters, Teresa Edgar (Marty) of Easley and Wanda Adams (Danny) of Pickens; one sister, Rhonda Hester (Randy); four brothers, James Barnette (Donna), Jessie Barnette (Brenda), Claude J. (Junebug) Barnette, Jr. (Phyllis) and Jerry Barnette (Lynn); five grandchildren, Andrea (Scott), Erica (Brett), Megan (Austin), Trey and Liza Adams. Shelby was expecting her 1st great-granddaughter September 7th and her 1st great-grandson September 12th.

In addition to her parents, Shelby was predeceased by a granddaughter Taylor.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum-Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.
