Shelby Jean Palmer, known to her loved ones as Jean, passed away on August 29, 2023. She was born on July 17, 1939, in Fort Payne, Alabama, to the late Julius E. Rogers and Ruby Summerford Rogers. She was the wife of the late Clyde R. Palmer.

Jean dedicated 32 years of her life working as a housekeeper for a hospital. Her commitment and hard work made a lasting impact on the lives of many patients and staff members. After residing in Fort Payne, Alabama until 1961, she moved to Fort Myers, Florida, and later settled in Naples, Florida.

Jean attended Seagate Baptist Church in Naples, Florida, Jean found great solace and strength in her faith. Her involvement in church activities brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

Known for her kind and welcoming nature, Jean was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had a remarkable ability to strike up conversations with people from all walks of life. The late-night conversations she shared with friends and family will be cherished forever.

Jean loved to go on rides in the car. Whether it was a long drive through scenic routes or a simple trip around town, she found delight in exploring new places from the comfort of an automobile. Additionally, she found great joy in boating and relished the tranquility it offered.

Jean had a flair for culinary delights and loved making homemade ice cream. She would gather loved ones around while she prepared this delightful treat, creating cherished memories that will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of indulging in her creations. Interestingly, she also developed a unique taste for burnt foods, particularly hot dogs.

While her career accomplishments were noteworthy, Jean's proudest achievements centered around her family.

Jean is survived by her son, Alex Palmer (Belinda) of Central, SC; grandchildren, Cody Palmer, Tabitha Stumbo (Jefferey) of Central, SC; great-granddaughter, Victoria Stumbo; sister, Geneva Haney.

In addition to her Husband and parents, Jean is predeceased by her son, Clyde R. Palmer Jr.; daughter, Delores Diane Palmer; sisters, Helen Osbourne, and Janie May Dalton.

Shelby Jean Palmer will forever be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and genuine interest in others. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her kind heart and welcoming spirit touched the lives of many.
