Shelia Owens Cole, 68, widow of William "Billy" Cole passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at AnMed Health in Anderson.
Born in Anderson, Shelia was the daughter of the late J. C. and Pauline Elizabeth Ates Owens. She was the business manager and bookkeeper for her husband's construction company. She was a graduate of D.W. Daniel High School and was a member of Cannon Memorial Baptist Church in Central. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, go shopping, trout fishing, and deer hunting. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shelia had a true servant’s heart, and spent most of her time helping and taking care of others. She was a source of strength to all who knew her. She fought hard in her battle with cancer, and her faith and determination were an inspiration to others. She was a wonderful wife and amazing mother. She loved children, and just about everyone knew her as “Grandma,” whether they were really her grandchildren or not. She “adopted” those she loved as family.
Surviving are her two daughters, Terri Owen and husband, Marcus of Easley, SC and Michelle Painter and husband, Wes of Central; brothers Chester Owens and Mark Owens and wife, Darlene all of Central; grandchildren, Sam Painter, Tommy Owen and Sarah Painter; sister-in-law, Brenda McAbee of Greenwood.
