Shelvia (Shevie) Poore

Shelvia (Shevie) Jean Smith Poore, 76, of Central, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on April 23, 2013.
Born in Greenville on October 14, 1936, to Frank T. Smith and Jennie Gillespie Smith (Penn), she is survived by her daughter, Pamela L. Poore Paxton, and her husband, Fred L. Paxton, Jr.; her grandsons, Charles L. (Chaz) Paxton, and his wife, Leah, of Six Mile and Brandon M. Paxton of Denver, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Cadence (Cadie) Paxton and Carter Jude Paxton; sisters, Joan Smith Farley of Athol, Idaho, Janie Smith Hudson of Simpsonville, and Mary Ann Smithy of Mauldin.
She was retired and a member of Kings Grove Baptist Church, near Six Mile. She worked at Pratt-Read & Co. in Central from 1960 until the plant closed in the mid 1980's, then worked as a house parent at Helping Hands of Clemson. She most recently provided cleaning services at the Newton Law Firm in Clemson.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Kings Grove Baptist Church, 1335 Old Seneca Road, Central, SC 29630. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
