Born on October 2, 1942, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Shirley was the daughter of the late William Edward Flanagan and Shirley Jean Hardee Flanagan. She grew up in Palm Beach and graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1960. She went on to earn her B.B.A. with high honors from Emory University, where she was reportedly the only female student regularly seen in the business school’s halls. A longtime resident of Columbia, South Carolina, Shirley developed and built hundreds of homes across the state with Curry & Company. Over the past 25 years, she shared her design and building expertise with many friends in Greenville, South Carolina.

Shirley and her husband, Lewis, traveled extensively, visiting 47 of the 50 U.S. states as well as many countries around the world. She enjoyed the company of her two miniature dachshunds, Lilly and Lucy. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Greenville, a community she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Birney Curry, Jr. (1996).

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Lewis Worley Haselwood, Jr.; two daughters, Collum Curry Posey (Chris) of Laurel, MS, and Molly Curry Sherard (Gordon) of Spartanburg, SC; her step-son, Richard Watson Haselwood (Cholpon) of Baku, Azerbaijan; and her step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann Haselwood of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her brother, Edward William Flanagan, Jr. (Dena) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and by her beloved niece and nephew, Christine Corbett and Kenneth Flanagan.

Shirley’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Isabella Parker Posey, Jack Curry Posey, Christopher Van Posey II, Curry Cheves Sherard, Molly McCuen Sherard, Birney Bronaugh Sherard as well as her step-grandchildren: Azret Sultanov, Alexander Temur Haselwood, David Dastan Haselwood, and Jassim Ayman Ebrahim.
