Shirley Ramsey Hester, 91, of Easley, South Carolina, loving wife of Boyce Lee Hester, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Born on December 31, 1934, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Onice Falls Ramsey. Shirley started her career working as a beautician, where she used her skills to help others feel their best. Later, she worked as a customer service representative for Duke Energy for 15 years before retiring. Her commitment to her work always showed how she cared for people. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley treasured her family above all else. She found great joy in spending time with them and sharing her talents. Shirley was an excellent cook, known especially for her delicious lasagna and country style steak, which became favorites in her family gatherings. She had a creative side, enjoying crafts and painting. Together with her husband, Boyce, who built birdhouses, Shirley would bring them to life with her paintings. She also loved to relax outdoors, especially when she could get a good suntan. Shirley was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, Shirley is survived by her two children, Mark Hester (Tammy), and Kelly Herring; four grandchildren, Chandler Herring, Kendall Herring, Ashley Elrod (Landon), and Chase Hester (Nora); as well as one great-grandson, Ryder Hester, and one on the way.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by three brothers, Duke Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, and Dean Ramsey.
