Shirley R. Miller

August 24, 1924 — December 15, 2016

Shirley R. Miller, 92, of 1804 Grandview Dr., Seneca, SC, formerly of Fairfield Dr., Sharon, Pa., died December 15, at her home.

Born in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late Lillian and Louis Rosenblum. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel.

She is survived by three sons: Louis (Robin) of Richmond, Va; David (Faye) of Seneca, SC; Dan (Dari) of San Francisco, Calif., four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Francis P. Miller and a daughter; Dr. Martha Miller.

Shirley graduated in the class of 1941 of Sharon High School. She received a B.S. degree in physics in 1945 from Wellesley College (Mass.).

Upon graduation, she went to work at the Advanced Physics Laboratory, Johns Hopkins University, Silver Spring, Md., where she worked on the ram jet; one of our country's first guided missiles.

She returned to Sharon, married, and her husband joined the family business, Golden Dawn Foods, as vice-president of operations. She began her career in community service, evolving into "the town advocate" for her favorite causes.

From 1960-72, she served on the Sharon School Board. She was also involved in the Council of Jewish Women, League of Women Voters, Community Child Care Center, & on the Community Board of Mental Health and Counseling---just to name a few.

Her greatest joy, however, besides her grandchildren, was her devotion to the Cleveland Browns & lndians!!!!
